‘The players are very motivated’ – GoldStars SC boss confident ahead of Samartex clash

Head coach of Bibiani GoldStars SC Petros Koukouras says his side is motivated ahead of the regional derby against FC Samatex 1996 in the Ghana Premier League. GoldStars SC will face FC Samartex 1996 on Sunday, November 1, at Nsenkyire Sports Arena at 3:00 pm.

Head coach of Bibiani GoldStars SC Petros Koukouras says his side is motivated ahead of the regional derby against FC Samatex 1996 in the Ghana Premier League.

The Miners secured a 2-1 win over Heart of Lions on matchweek eight and are occupying the 12th position in the league standings with 10 points from eight matches.

In an interview with GoldStars TV, Koukouras stated that the team is prepared to face their rivals and are hoping to make a statement.

"Yeah, the players are very motivated. It's one of the derbies, and we want to prove that the last few good results," he said.

"They didn't come by luck. So, everyone is ready for the game. And they really want to prove the point."

He highlighted that he will not entirely change their style of play but will keep using their attacking approach despite it being a derby.

The Greek tactician, however, recognised that there may be some tactical adjustments that may be key for an away fixture.

“You know, for us it's another game, although in the derby we approach it as a normal game. It can only give us three points, or we can only lose three points," he added.

"So the principles of play should remain the same as we had from the beginning of the season. They might be a little bit different because it's an away game. But we're not going to go there to defend. We should go to attack and score goals and try to win whatever positive result we can get there."

GoldStars SC will face FC Samartex 1996 on Sunday, November 1, at Nsenkyire Sports Arena at 3:00 pm.

The international break is almost here: so wave goodbye to your players, and maybe your manager

What used to be a time to reset is now a time to rehire, and Michael Carrick is not the only Premier League manager looking over his shoulder Perhaps the most telling moment of Manchester United’s comeback against Roma was at the final whistle. The camera then cut to the director of football, Jason Wilcox, and chief executive, Omar Berrada, clapping with two of the most ashen faces you could imagine – as if it was a minute’s applause in the 87th minute for a lifelong octogenarian fan who died peacefully in his sleep earlier in the week (most probably not at a United game but you couldn’t rule…
