An accused in a major drug trafficking case, who had been absconding for two years, was arrested by the Nedumbassery police from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.

Ragesh, 32, of Thalappilly, Thrissur, had been on the run since the seizure of 316 grams of suspected MDMA and 420 grams of suspected ganja from a car at Athani in June, 2024, according to the police.

The contraband was being transported from Bengaluru. Two youths — Azad, 38, of Aluva, and Harikrishnan, 28, of Malappuram — had been arrested earlier.

Ragesh, who had allegedly provided financial assistance to purchase the narcotic substances, had fled to Kullu on learning about the arrests and had been working as a tourist guide there. The investigation team, led by District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural) K.S. Sudarshan, tracked him down.

The accused was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
