Devadas Menon, a researcher from the State working with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has been featured in the 2026 Stanford University-Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists list for the second year in a row.

He is reported to be the only researcher from India included in the Communication and Media Studies subfield.

Mr. Menon, who hails from Chikkaballapur, is a communication researcher at ISRO’s Development and Educational Communication Unit (DECU) in Ahmedabad.

He has obtained his Master’s degree in Electronic Media from Bangalore University. Previously, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Media and Communication at the Central University of Tamil Nadu.

His research focuses on cyberpsychology and the behaviour of digital media users in India.

His work examines the psychological factors influencing the use of short-form video platforms such as Instagram Reels, subscription and viewing patterns on over-the-top (OTT) platforms and the adoption of conversational artificial intelligence.

Mr. Menon’s research seeks to adapt media and technology-use models developed largely in Western contexts to India’s social and cultural settings.

His future research interests include the psychological implications of generative AI, deepfakes and algorithmic influence.

The Stanford-Elsevier list uses standardised bibliometric indicators based on Scopus data to assess research impact across disciplines.

Mr. Menon has an overall global rank of 56,727 and a rank of 790 in his specialised subfield.
