2026 U17 WWC: Japan knock out Black Maidens in quarters

Japan knock out Black Maidens in quarters. Nanami Kurita scored the only goal of the game to end the journey for Nana Joe Adarkwa’s side in Rabat.

Ghana has been knocked out of the ongoing U-17 Women’s World Cup follow g their defeat to Japan.

The Black Maidens lost 1-0 to the Asian side in the quarterfinals of the competition on Sunday afternoon.

Nanami Kurita scored the only goal of the game to end the journey for Nana Joe Adarkwa’s side in Rabat.

The gaffer made two changes to his starting lineup with Belinda Kpentey and Mavis Koah coming into the team.

The Maidens had a poor start to the game and run out of steam in opening half of the encounter which saw them produce only one attempt at goal.

Japan had total control of the first 45 minutes but failed to find the back of net.

However, after the recess, Kurita broke the deadlock to give her side a deserving lead, breaching Ghana’s defence for the first time in the game.

Despite their last resurgence, Adarkwa’s side were unable to get back into the game as Japan held on to clam a 1-0 victory.

The result sees Ghana now out of the competition in the quarterfinals once again while Japan progress to the semifinals.
