The Rights Accountability Network Africa (RANA) has appointed Ghanaian media personality and public relations professional Matilda Mensah Marfo, popularly known as Tilly Akua Nipaa, as its Communications Director.

The appointment, announced on Sunday, November 1, 2026, is aimed at strengthening the organisation's institutional communications, expanding public engagement and making human rights advocacy more accessible to citizens across Ghana and the African continent.

Tilly Akua Nipaa has built a career in broadcasting, corporate communications, media relations, brand storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

She has worked as a broadcaster and panellist on platforms under Despite Media and the Multimedia Group.

She currently serves as Head of Public Relations and Marketing at Crux Global, where she leads the company's strategic communications and marketing initiatives.

Her professional experience also includes leading the 2025 Artist of the Year campaign for musician King Promise at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards and contributing to projects associated with the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Tilly holds a degree in Psychology, English and Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana.

She is also preparing to graduate with a Master's degree in Public Relations and Marketing.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, she serves as the 2026 General Secretary of the Graduate Students' Association of Ghana at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (GRASAG-UNIMAC).

In her new position, she will oversee RANA's communications strategy, media relations, digital engagement and public awareness initiatives.

A key part of her mandate will be to translate the organisation's research, legal interventions and advocacy activities into accessible information to improve public understanding of human rights, encourage civic participation and promote institutional accountability.

RANA said effective communication was an essential part of protecting human rights, noting that citizens needed to understand their rights, recognise threats to them and know how to seek appropriate remedies.

The organisation expressed confidence that her experience and strategic communications expertise would strengthen its advocacy and public engagement efforts.
