The government has issued a Cabinet directive allocating up to 20 per cent of all government printing assignments to the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), according to its Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey.

Mr Boatey said the directive, secured through the intervention of the sector Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, was part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the state-owned printing company and improve its commercial sustainability.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House on Monday, November 2, he said the company had already regained the confidence of government institutions after securing major printing contracts, including the national budget, the mid-year budget review and the 2025 State of the Nation Address.

He noted that the company had secured the prestigious national budget printing assignment for the first time in more than seven years.

He further disclosed that the Finance Minister had announced GPCL as the country's primary printer during the presentation of the 2026 budget, with a mandate to lead the production of materials for the government's nationwide free textbook programme.

"We stand ready to take on this challenge and deliver timeously on all printing contracts and at the highest quality," he said, urging corporate Ghana to partner with the company to expand its printing and publishing operations.
