A 25-year-old man from Bhavani in Erode district, who escaped from the custody of police personnel escorting him to the Coimbatore Central Prison for judicial remand on October 31, was arrested on Monday (November 2).

Director-General of Police and Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal confirmed the arrest to The Hindu. Sources said a special team of the police arrested Raghavan, reportedly from his native, on Monday evening. He was later brought to a location within the jurisdiction of the Coimbatore District (Rural) Police for questioning.

Raghavan, according to the police, has multiple cases against him in Erode and in Karnataka. He escaped first from the custody of the Karnataka police at a place within the jurisdiction of the Annur police in Coimbatore district on June 19, 2026, when they were bringing him back to Coimbatore after custodial interrogation in a case.

Since the escape happened within their jurisdiction, the Annur police had launched searches for Raghavan and arrested him on October 30. He escaped again from police custody, while being escorted to the Coimbatore Central Prison around 12.40 a.m. on October 31.

The Race Course police had registered a case in connection with the second escape and joint teams from Coimbatore city and rural were on the lookout for Raghavan, until his arrest on Monday.
