U.P. CEO office said that guidelines have been sent to all District Election Officers (DEOs), who have been told to carry out the matching thoroughly

Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh has directed that voter lists of all Assembly constituencies of the State be matched with Panchayat and Urban Body electoral rolls in order to find eligible citizens missing from the rolls during the Special Summary Revision of Voter Lists 2027.

In an official statement on Wednesday (November 4, 2026), the U.P. CEO office said that guidelines have been sent to all District Election Officers (DEOs), who have been told to carry out the matching thoroughly.

Directions have also been issued to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to get Form 6 filled for every identified eligible citizen who is not on the voter list of any Assembly constituency in India.

District Electoral Officers have also been asked to use fair price shops run by the Food and Civil Supplies Department to find those left out. Citizens aged 18 years and above who are registered at fair price shops in a district but are not on the current voter list will be identified and added to the voter list if found eligible.

The officials said that every effort will be made, with the cooperation of various departments, to enrol eligible citizens, especially youth and women.

For young voters, Electoral Literacy Clubs in educational institutions are also being activated. The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of each Assembly constituency has been asked to coordinate with the clubs’ designated coordinators and work in “mission mode”. Youth organisations such as the NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Yuvak Mangal Dal and Bharat Scouts and Guides will also be roped in.

Sources said that an estimated one crore voters are likely to be added to the post-SIR voter lists based on the population estimates of the States.

The final SSR rolls in U.P. are scheduled to be published on January 4. The State is scheduled for Assembly polls early next year.
