Was an Italian chef really fired over refusal to put pineapple on pizza?

Italian chef Davide Tamburella was fired from a Brisbane restaurant in May after the establishment's management expressed concerns about a string of complaints about the chef's behaviour.

Among them were Tamburella's refusal to provide ham and pineapple pizza for guests at a function.

It was the third time Tamburella had refused to use the fruit on pizzas in the past four years.

At the time, the chef had stated that putting pineapple on pizza was "offensive to his culture".

Australia correspondent Katy Watson explains what led to Tamburella's dismissal.
