Grealish unavailable again for Everton

Jack Grealish remains unavailable for Everton‘s Premier League clash with Coventry on Friday, manager David Moyes has confirmed. Grealish is trying to rebuild his career at Everton, having fallen out of favour at City despite costing the club £100m in 2021.

Jack Grealish remains unavailable for Everton's Premier League clash with Coventry on Friday, manager David Moyes has confirmed.

The on-loan Manchester City midfielder, 31, missed the Toffees' two games against Newcastle in the Premier League and Carabao Cup over the past week following a "breach of club discipline".

After Monday's win at St James' Park, Moyes said Grealish still has a future at the club but did not know when he would return to the team.

Now, speaking on Thursday before his side host Coventry, Moyes said: "No, Jack is not available.

"I wouldn't give you the plan but we will be working with Jack again soon."

Moyes and Everton have remained guarded about the issue, which is understood to have arisen from an unauthorised absence from training.

The club said he remained absent on Monday because of a lack of fitness, although Moyes said he could not comment at the time.

Asked whether the upcoming international break could give Everton a chance to resolve the issue, Moyes added: "We just need to wait and see how things go."

Grealish is trying to rebuild his career at Everton, having fallen out of favour at City despite costing the club £100m in 2021.

Grealish, who played a key role helping City win the 2022-23 Treble, will be out of contract at the end of the season.

He scored twice in 22 games for Everton last season during a loan spell which was cut short by injury.

The midfielder returned to the club for a second loan spell this season but had only made six appearances before falling out of favour.
