PVC Is Your Weapon Against Poverty, Tinubu Tells Supporters In Rivers
President Bola Tinubu on Saturday urged supporters in Rivers State to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote for what he described as the progressive development of the Nigerian economy, saying it was their weapon against poverty. The Rivers campaign comes a day after Tinubu attended an APC rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno pledged two million votes for the President in the 2027 election.
President Bola Tinubu on Saturday urged supporters in Rivers State to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to vote for what he described as the progressive development of the Nigerian economy, saying it was their weapon against poverty. Tinubu made the appeal while addressing supporters at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President urged those who had yet to collect their PVCs to do so, stressing that the card was the instrument available to them to fight poverty through the ballot. “It is left for you to use the weapon you have, and that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please, I beg you, I take God beg. The weapon you have against poverty is to elect progressive development of our economy.
That is what I am pursuing,” Tinubu said. Addressing Nigerian youths, the President said the outcome of the 2027 elections would have a direct impact on their future, urging them to take the exercise seriously.
“To the youths of Nigeria, I am looking at you. This election is about you, it’s not on me. Your future depends on this election. This progress has no reverse gear,” he said. The Rivers campaign comes a day after Tinubu attended an APC rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where Governor Umo Eno pledged two million votes for the President in the 2027 election.
At the rally, Tinubu also approved Eno’s request for the establishment of the Ibom Deep Sea Port, describing the project as a catalyst for development in the state and the South-South region. The Rivers rally attracted APC leaders and supporters from across the state and the South-South geopolitical zone. Those who also addressed the gathering and canvassed support for the party included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, among other party leaders.
