Stacey Dooley takes an Australian adventure with a twist. Here’s what to watch this evening 9pm, Channel 4 Continue reading...

The star goes off the beaten track to visit neglected parts. Plus, more oceanic wonder in Blue Planet III. Here’s what to watch this evening

The engaging and versatile Stacey Dooley tries her hand at a travel show, heading to various neglected parts of Australia. In the opening episode, she’s visiting the picturesque Kangaroo Island which suffered horribly in the bushfires of 2019-20. How is its astonishing array of wildlife bouncing back? Dooley visits a couple who, feeling “a bit lost” after the fires, set up a refuge for orphaned baby roos. Phil Harrison

The stakes are high for young prince Valentine (Lenny Rush) as this boisterous, comedian-stuffed adaptation of Eric Morecambe’s children’s book reaches its finale. As his coming-of-age vampire ceremony looms, Val must decide whether to come clean about being a human or roll the dice on a bloodsucking bluff. Graeme Virtue

Another wonder-packed full immersion: this time, we’re heading to the open oceans, which teem with beautiful, ingeniously evolved life. Look out for the rough-toothed dolphins with their stress-free pack-hunting techniques and the delightfully languid mola mola/sun fish, which divides its time between being cleaned by other fish and simply basking in the sun. PH

“Michael Kavanagh, have you forgotten me already?” He and Diana get an unwanted call from Spain this week. What will the brisk chat lead them to do next? Meanwhile, it’s Jamie and Melissa’s engagement bash and the Phelans make a deal with Ozzie Thompson – will he get a party invitation? Hollie Richardson

Bob and Paul are in Shetland, the farthest north they’ve ever ventured. This is one of those episodes where the fishing comes a distant second to the rambling banter – and it’s none the worse for it as the pair discuss school trips and teenage drunkenness, while Bob gets to fly a kite. And away! PH

Forget sexual tension, there’s actual tension between the Kirkmans and the Brookes after the fire in the school. Meanwhile, the longing looks between Dominic Cooper’s Tom and Romola Garai’s Beth are ever-present, despite his admission in the last episode that he wishes he’d never met her. Priya Elan

Nobody’s perfect, but Billy Wilder’s 1959 comedy is pretty darn close. After jazz musicians Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) witness a gun battle – inspired by the St Valentine’s Day massacre – they are forced on the run. The pair end up posing as women to join a touring all-female band that boasts Marilyn Monroe’s Sugar Kane as its singer. It’s a gender-bending delight, as Joe pursues Sugar – his Cary Grant impersonation almost, but not quite, stealing the show from the pitch-perfect Monroe – while Jerry is wooed by a persistent millionaire. Simon Wardell

The authentically grimy feature debut of Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares is set in a near-future London but it could just as well be the present day, as the mainly Black residents of a run-down but community-minded estate defy violent attempts at eviction. The solitary Izi (Kane Robinson) lives there but he is intent on getting out. That is until, at the funeral home where he works, he meets Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman) who may be his son. But a more welcoming rival father figure soon emerges in Robin Hood-style vigilante leader Staples (Hope Ikpoku Jr). SW

Premier League Football: Crystal Palace v Liverpool , 12.30pm, Sky Sports Main Event Man Utd v Aston Villa is at 4.25pm.

Nations Championship Rugby: England v Australia, 2pm, ITV1 Maro Itoje leads the home side in the Northern Hemisphere ties at Twickenham.

If Dune is this generation’s Star Wars, we are all in big trouble

According to Florence Pugh, Denis Villeneuve’s stunningly strange and breathtaking universe is the equivalent to George Lucas’ heroic space opera. It is worth remembering this when considering Florence Pugh’s recent declaration, ahead of next month’s Dune: Part Three, that Dune is her generation’s Star Wars.

‘Mom encouraged me to get breast implants’: Disney child star Christy Carlson Romano on fame, family and freedom

She started acting at six and by 16 was starring in Even Stevens with Shia LaBeouf. The title of her memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck, gives you a flavour of where Carlson Romano, 42, is coming from, but what’s most striking isn’t that she goes off the rails (she doesn’t, hugely, compared to other former child stars), but how sensible and mature she is as a child.

Walking with spirits in Cambodia’s sacred forests

Former loggers and poachers have embraced ancient traditions to promote and protect the Cardamom Mountains’ ever-threatened natural wonders I’m two hours downriver from the Chi Phat community ecotourism camp, in the Koh Kong region of Cambodia, when my phone signal fizzles out completely. It’s dawn and we’re chugging through the snaking Preak Piphot River towards the starting point of a 9-mile (15km) overnight trek into the country’s sacred, spirit-filled Cardamom mountain range.
