Revanth sets target of making one crore women millionaires by 2034

Promises greater economic opportunities for SHG members; says women’s empowerment is central to his government’s policies
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy celebrates his birthday by cutting a cake with his family members at his residence in Vikarabad on November 8, 2026.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy set a target of transforming one crore women into millionaires by 2034 by strengthening self-help groups (SHGs) and creating more opportunities for them in business and industry.
Interacting with women members of self-help groups at the Lagacharla Industrial Hub in Kodangal constituency on Sunday (November 8, 2026), he said nearly 70 lakh women were already members of SHGs and the government aimed to increase the membership to one crore by 2034 and make every member financially prosperous.
The Chief Minister, who celebrated his birthday with the women members of self-help groups, said he considered them his family and attributed his rise to the blessings and support of women. “I have received more from you than I ever asked for. I have nothing more to aspire for in life. My goal is to make one crore women millionaires,” he said.
Mr. Revanth Reddy said women were the backbone of families and that households prospered when women had control over financial decisions. His government was, therefore, making efforts to expand their role in economic activities and entrepreneurship.
He said women’s self-help groups had been entrusted with stitching school uniforms for students in government schools, while they were also being encouraged to operate petrol bunks, participate in solar power generation and run Indiramma canteens in the Secretariat and other government offices. Women were generating annual business worth ₹15 crore to ₹20 crore through some of these activities, he claimed.
The government had extended bank-linkage loans of ₹79,000 crore to women over the last 34 months, he said, complimenting Minister for Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) for her efforts in strengthening the SHG movement.
Referring to welfare measures, the Chief Minister said the government had sanctioned 4.5 lakh new pensions on Sunday (November 8), of which 3.5 lakh were for single women and widows. New pensions had also been sanctioned on a saturation basis for handloom and toddy-tapping workers, he added.
He said the Indiramma housing scheme and free electricity up to 200 units were providing support to women. Nearly 37 lakh women were travelling free on RTC buses every day, and the government was compensating the corporation for the scheme, helping it return to profitability.
Urging women to move beyond dependence on welfare schemes and become entrepreneurs and industrialists, he said the government would stand by them in their efforts to achieve economic independence.
He also called upon women to give priority to their children’s education, particularly higher education for girls. “The hardships you have faced should not be experienced by your children. Education alone can transform their lives,” he said, asking women to promise on his birthday that they would ensure higher education for their daughters.
Taking a swipe at BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, he accused him of mistreating his own sister and questioned his claims of working for women’s empowerment. He asked women to question the BRS leadership about what it had done for them during its ten years in power.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Ministers Seethakka, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Vakiti Srihari, besides MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons and senior officials, attended the programme.
