Actor Ramya calls out loud music, firecrackers at 3 am in Bengaluru

Kannada actor Ramya took to social media on Thursday (October 22, 2026) to complain about celebrations accompanied by loud music in east Bengaluru through the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, causing public inconvenience.

Ms. Ramya said an amusement park near Jayamahal Road was “busting crackers and blasting music” even at around 3 a.m.

The actor pointed out that the Supreme Court had prohibited bursting crackers between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. “Loudspeakers should not be used past midnight even with special permission. I understand certain occasions call for some flexibility, but not at this hour. There are hospitals nearby and senior citizens and children living all around,” she said.

Speaking to The Hindu, a police officer familiar with the development clarified that the crackers were being burst near an open ground known as the Dasara Ground.

“The ground is named the Dasara Ground because the event has a history of over 100 years. Every year, local residents celebrate the festival, which has been their tradition,” the police officer said.
