The French Embassy in Ghana has donated 300 packs of drug test kits to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to support its enforcement operations at Accra International Airport. Receiving the items on behalf of the Commission, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, expressed appreciation to the French Embassy and the DCI team for the gesture.

The French Embassy in Ghana has donated 300 packs of drug test kits to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to support its enforcement operations at Accra International Airport.

The donation, made through the Embassy’s Direction de la Coopération Internationale de Sécurité (DCI), includes urine drug test kits and accompanying accessories to strengthen the Commission’s ability to detect suspected drug use during its operations at the airport.

Mr Nicholas Gongora, the DCI Branch of Ghana Regional Police Liaison Officer, said the donation formed part of the French Government’s support for efforts to combat organised crime, particularly drug trafficking.

He also disclosed that the Embassy, through the DCI, was taking steps to organise a training session for NACOC officers stationed at the airport.

The training, he said, would refresh officers’ knowledge and skills to improve their effectiveness in carrying out their operational duties.

Mr Gongora reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with NACOC to support the Commission in fulfilling its mandate.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Commission, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, expressed appreciation to the French Embassy and the DCI team for the gesture.

He commended Mr Gongora and his team for their continued commitment to supporting NACOC’s operational activities.

Lawyer Twum-Barimah reiterated the Commission’s commitment to working closely with the French Embassy and other international partners to combat drug trafficking in Ghana.
