The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has called for stronger economic cooperation between Ghana and Guinea to expand bilateral trade, promote industrial development and boost tourism.

She made the call during a meeting with Guinea’s Minister for Trade, Industry and Enterprise, Aboubacar Kourocuma, on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Accra Convention and the UNCITRAL at 60 Symposium in Accra on Monday, October 26, 2026.

As part of efforts to deepen cultural and tourism cooperation, Ms Ofosu-Adjare proposed a joint initiative to renovate and preserve the former residence of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, in Guinea as a historical and cultural tourism attraction.

She also pledged to facilitate collaboration between the Ghana Standards Authority and Guinea’s standards and metrology institution to harmonise standards and reduce technical trade barriers.

The proposed collaboration is expected to support the effective implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by making it easier for businesses in both countries to trade across borders.

Mr Kourocuma welcomed the renewed commitment to cooperation, noting that compatible standards would facilitate imports and exports while strengthening trade relations between the two countries.

The discussions form part of efforts by Ghana and Guinea to strengthen economic ties through improved trade facilitation, industrial cooperation and tourism development.
