More than 100 wooden structures and three metal containers have been destroyed in a commercial fire outbreak at Taifa June-July in the Greater Accra Region.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters from the Madina Fire Station, supported by personnel from the Headquarters Sub-Station, responded to the incident and battled the blaze.

The fire destroyed more than 100 wooden structures, including their contents, as well as three metal containers.

However, firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to more than 200 adjoining wooden structures and the Sabbath Faith Salvation Church building, which were salvaged.

In a separate incident at Lapaz Tabora No. 5, firefighters from the Dansoman Fire Station responded to an electrical fire involving an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer.

The transformer was completely destroyed by the fire.

The GNFS confirmed that no casualties or injuries were recorded in either incident.

The Service has urged the public to observe fire safety precautions and promptly report outbreaks to the nearest fire station to facilitate swift emergency response and minimise damage to property and loss of lives.
