GES cautions teachers against paying money for automatic promotion

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned teachers participating in its ongoing promotion examination against paying money to individuals who claim they can secure them automatic promotion. In a press release issued on Tuesday, November 3, the Service stressed that the promotion exercise was transparent and strictly merit-based, insisting that no payment or financial inducement was required or could guarantee a candidate’s promotion.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned teachers participating in its ongoing promotion examination against paying money to individuals who claim they can secure them automatic promotion.

The warning follows reports received by management that some unscrupulous individuals are demanding money from candidates under the pretext of facilitating their promotion.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, November 3, the Service stressed that the promotion exercise was transparent and strictly merit-based, insisting that no payment or financial inducement was required or could guarantee a candidate's promotion.

Management, therefore, urged all eligible staff participating in the examination to disregard such demands and refrain from making payments to anyone in exchange for promises of promotion.

The Service also encouraged candidates to approach the examination with confidence, dedication and a positive attitude, while wishing them success in the exercise.

It further called on staff who encounter individuals soliciting money or have information about such fraudulent activities to report the matter to the police.

The GES reiterated that promotion would be determined solely by merit and the established procedures, warning candidates against falling victim to individuals seeking to exploit the exercise for financial gain.
