The Ghana Police Service has cautioned motorists and vehicle owners against fraudulent traffic fine notifications, following the official commencement of the Traffitech-GH automated traffic enforcement project on November 1, 2026. The Ghana Police Service has cautioned motorists and vehicle owners against fraudulent traffic fine notifications, following the official commencement of the Traffitech-GH automated traffic enforcement project on November 1, 2026.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 4, the Police said the initiative, which seeks to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations, requires motorists to observe approved procedures for verifying and paying traffic fines.

The Service advised motorists to first check that traffic violation notifications come from the official sender ID, GPS-MTTD, warning that genuine notifications would not be sent from ordinary mobile phone numbers.

It also urged recipients to open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or traffic ticket to verify the vehicle photograph and registration number, as well as the location, date and time of the alleged offence.

Motorists were further encouraged to watch the accompanying video where available.

According to the Police, traffic fines can be paid through the National Investment Bank (NIB) Payment Portal or a USSD platform.

To make payments online, motorists are required to visit the traffictech website, select the 'Make Payment' option, enter their ticket number, verify the details and follow the payment instructions.

Alternatively, they can dial *710*0# and follow the prompts to make a payment using their ticket number.

The Police particularly warned motorists against paying traffic fines into personal mobile money numbers or through unofficial accounts, urging the public to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to fraud.

For assistance or further enquiries, the statement said motorists can contact the Ghana Police Service on 0596922402.

The Service expressed appreciation to motorists, vehicle owners and transport operators for their cooperation and support in promoting road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
