The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports suggesting that a student has died at Ghana National College, clarifying that the reported incident occurred in 2018.

In a Facebook post shared on Thursday, November 7, the Service stressed that no student had died at the school in connection with the recent reports and urged the public to disregard the claims.

It described the circulation of the information as a disingenuous attempt by some unidentified individuals to reopen the painful wounds of the bereaved family and unfairly damage the reputation of the school and its staff.

“No student has passed away at Ghana National College. This particular reported demise occurred in 2018,” the GES stated.

The Service further expressed concern that the circulation of the old incident could cause renewed distress to the family of the deceased while unjustly tarnishing the image of the teachers, house mistresses and the school.

It therefore appealed to the general public to disregard the reports and avoid giving credence to what it described as attempts to misrepresent the circumstances surrounding the incident.
