SFI stages protest demanding certificate verification of contract lecturers

The protest comes amid allegations of irregularities and corporate favouritism in the intermediate education system

The State unit of Students’ Federation of India staged a protest outside the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) office here on Tuesday (October 28, 2026), demanding immediate completion of certificate verification for contract lecturers appointed as regular lecturers.

The protesters demanded a transparent verification process, a comprehensive inquiry into alleged irregularities and strict action against private junior colleges violating government regulations.

The protest comes amid allegations of irregularities and corporate favouritism in the intermediate education system. Last week, the board had rejected the allegations and stated that student safety and statutory compliance were priorities.

TGBIE recently said inspections had identified 65 colleges that had allegedly submitted fake Fire Safety no-objection certificates (NOCs). It also reported imposing penalties exceeding ₹4 crore on corporate colleges between July and October this year for various violations.

The SFI leaders demanded accountability and enforcement of the board’s regulations.
